Grand Knight Nov 2017 Message

The third Knights of Columbus principle is Fraternity. Venerable Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, in large part, to provide assistance to the widows and children left behind when the breadwinner died, often prematurely. The Order’s top-rated insurance program continues to do this today, as do the good works of individual Knights, who gave more than 73.5 million service hours in 2015, illustrating how Catholics serve each other in Fraternity and Service. Many thanks goes to Larry Fusco and Larry Powers for their hard work in making the Golf Outing successful and enjoyed by 43 golfers Saturday October 14, 2017. There were also 20 sponsors with placards near the 18 holes. Many thanks goes to them as well for sponsoring this charity event. On October 8, Council 8012 sponsored a Soccer Challenge. Thank you Brother Knights for your help in making this youth event a success, especially Chris Romero, Youth Director. The Membership Drive held on the weekend of October 14/15 was a great success due in part by everyone who participated, especially Chuck Demino who sponsored two new members to Council 8012 plus one transfer. A First degree exemplification was held Thursday October 19, 2017 at the Sacred Heart 8012 council hall. Nine candidates were exemplified into the first degree of the Knights of Columbus. Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day, was originally set as a U.S. legal holiday to honor the end of WW1, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. Let us all pray the Rosary for all active duty service men and women for their dedication and safety around the world. Also, thank each and every Veteran on November 11th who served in the Armed Forces defending our country. Don’t forget the Veteran’s Breakfast on Sunday November 12, at MacLoughlin Hall. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Vivat Jesus! Don LaClair, Grand Knight
